Volvo Car Corporation halts production at Torslanda plant

Volvo Car Corporation, a Sweden-based automaker, is stopping production at its plant in Torslanda, Sweden for a week from October 29, 2012.

The automaker is taking this step in response to decreasing demand. This is the latest indication of the impact of decreasing demand on the car industry.

Volvo spokesman, Per-Ake Froberg, said, ‘The recession in Europe is deepening and that impacts customers’ willingness to buy new cars. Therefore we have to continue to adjust production.’
