Volkswagen AG (Xetra: VW), a Germany-based automaker, is launching its 2013 Beetle Convertible at the 2012 Los Angeles show, scheduled to be held in November 2012.
The vehicle features a fully insulated power soft top with a heated glass rear window, two concealed rollover bars behind the rear seats that pop up when needed. It will be available with a range of engines including 170bhp version of the 2.5-liter five, a 200bhp 2.0-litre turbo four, and a 140bhp 2.0-litre TDI turbodiesel engines.
Car & Driver has reported that the vehicle will be available in three retro-styled special edition models called ’50s, ’60s and ’70s, which will borrow period-correct design cues such as interior and exterior colours and whitewall tyres from their respective decades. The 2013 Beetle Convertible is to arrive at United States dealerships by the end of 2012.
