Volkswagen AG (Xetra: VW), a Germany-based automaker, is not against adding a 13th brand to its range in the coming years.
Reuters Television reported, citing Volkswagen Chief Executive Martin Winterkorn, that the company is not actively seeking to purchase another brand, but it will not hesitate to buy one if the right opportunity arises.
Winterkorn said, ‘We are currently well positioned with twelve brands but there are always opportunities that one cannot pass up.’
Alfa Romeo has been speculated in the past, although parent group Fiat has repeatedly made it clear it intends to hold onto the asset.
