Vauxhall, a subsidiary of General Motors Corporation (NYSE: GM), is close to realising its 25 percent target of UK-sourced components for its new Ellesmere Port-built Astra model.
The parent company set the goal last May as part of a cost-cutting deal with unions to guarantee the long-term future of the Cheshire plant.
The Liverpool Daily Post has reported, citing a GM spokesman, ‘We have £1bn of orders secured in new deals with suppliers and are close now to our target of 25 percent local content for the new Astra.’
