Crash Test Dummy

Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE: TM) (TYO: 7203), a Japan-based automaker, is testing new safety technology, called vehicle-to-vehicle, at a new plant in Japan.

The technology is called the Intelligent Transport System, and has instaalled sensors and transmitters in its roadways to communicate with the test vehicles, which have their own sensor equipment.

The facility covers a 3.5-hectare area and aims to decrease accidents by having the cars not only communicate with one another, but with the roadway system as well, in order to prevent collisions.
