Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE: TM) (LSE: TYT) (TYO: 7203), a Japan-based automaker, has officially started operations at its new state-of-the-art Intelligent Transport System Proving Ground at the automaker’s Higashi-Fuji Technical Centre.
The Intelligent Transport System proving ground will look for ways to decrease traffic accidents through wireless communications systems based on Toyota’s Integrated Safety Management Concept.
The ITS Proving Ground is equipped with real-world elements such as traffic lights and crossings to mimic an urban environment, and is equipped with a vehicle detection system, a pedestrian detection system, a course monitoring system and control devices.
