Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE: TM) (LSE: TYT) (TYO: 7203), a Japan-based automaker, is launching a wagon version of its European Auris compact, named the Auris Tourer, at the 2012 Paris Motor Show scheduled for later this month.
The vehicle is to compete with the Ford Focus and Opel Astra. It will borrow most of its design cues from the Auris hatchback.
The model will be the first vehicle in its segment to offer a full-hybrid engine. It will be equipped with a 1.8-litre petrol engine, coupled with an electric motor backed by nickel metal hydride batteries. It will also be offered with conventional petrol and diesel engines.
