Smart, a subsidiary of Daimler AG (NYSE: DAI) (FWB: DAI), has unveiled its new forstars concept, an electric two-seater ‘Sports Utility Coupe’, at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
The vehicle measures 139 inches long, 67 inches wide and 59 inches tall, and is designed around a Tridion frame for occupant-safety. It would be equipped with a rear-mounted Brabus-developed electric motor, which is derived from the one found in the smart fortwo electric drive. The 60Kw lithium-ion powered motor would allow for a top speed of 80 mph, and torque of 99 lb-ft.
With the engine to the rear, the automaker has instead designed the front-end with a projector that turns the car into a mobile movie theatre. Occupants could send movies from their smartphones to the projector through a Bluetooth connection and watch them on any flat and light-coloured surface.
