Renault SA (EURONEXT:RNO), a France-based automaker, is planning to collaborate with United Kingdom-based Caterham Cars to develop the car that will lead the revival of the Alpine nameplate.
The firms have collaborated because Caterham is looking for help from a larger company to develop its new range-topping sports car, while Renault is seeking the expertise of a smaller company to produce the new Alpine.
Carlos Tavares, Renault’s chief operating officer, said, ‘We’ve had talks with potential partners. We’ll decide whether or not to revive Alpine before the end of this year, but I think there’s a good chance that a new Alpine will see the light of day.’
