Renault SA (EURONEXT:RNO), a France-based automaker, has presented Pope Benedict XVI with two all-electric Kangoo Maxi vans.
The model has been designed exclusively for the Pope. The first model is painted in white and has the Vatican’s crest on both doors, while the second is identical to the first but it is finished in light blue and was built to be used by members of the Pope’s security staff. Renault and Gruau, a French coachbuilder, have jointly produced the vehicles.
The standard Kangoo Maxi ZE, Gruau features a large cloth sunroof, removable side windows and an electric folding step to make it easy to enter and exit the vehicle. The papal Kangoo can seat up to four people and is equipped with two leather-upholstered, sofa-like rear seats.
