Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (TYO: 7211), a Japan-based automaker, is launching its new Outlander PHEV SUV at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, scheduled for later this month.
The vehicle is to be equipped with two electric motors, powering the front and rear axles, respectively. The 300V lithium-ion batteries require around 30 minutes to quick-charge to 80 percent of capacity, or 4.5 hours from zero to 100 percent. The vehicle will cover a range of 34 miles in pure EV mode, with a total range of 547 miles. It will have three drive modes, EV Drive, Series Hybrid, and Parallel Hybrid.
The model will initially be available on sale in Japan from early 2013. It is to arrive at European and North American dealerships in late 2013. The automaker has not revealed its price.
