General Motors to stop production at Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant

General Motors Corporation (NYSE: GM), a United States-based automaker, is temporarily halting production at its Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant, according to a new report.

The automaker is taking this step for the second time this year. The facility is responsible for the production of Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid.

Automotive News has reported that the automaker will close the facility from September 17 until October 15. The company has reportedly informed the facility’s 1,500 employees and suppliers of the multi-week closure.
