Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F), a United States-based automaker, is planning to delay the launch of its new Mondeo until the end of 2014.

The automaker has set the new target date as part of its fresh drive to decrease costs in its European division. The Genk facility, where the Mondeo is produced, is likely to close by the end of 2014, subject to discussions with union bosses.

The automaker said, ‘The new Mondeo, available with the award-winning 1.0-litre Ecoboost and all-wheel drive, will now be launched in late 2014, if the plans for Genk are confirmed.’
