Fiat to temporary lay off workers at Melfi plant

Fiat SpA (NYSE: FIA) (ISE: IT0001976403), an Italy-based automaker, is planning to continue temporary layoffs at its Melfi plant, according to a labour union.

The automaker produces the Punto at the facility. It will stop production from October 17 to November 6 and again on November 9, 2012.

The facility was closed on September 14, with the current closure lasting until September 25.
