Honda Motor Company, a Japan-based carmaker, is to invest in developing two of its production plants in Ohio, USA.
The company will invest USD200m in developing its Anna Engine and Russells Point Transmission plants in the state. The majority of the money, USD170m, will create and automate a new fourth engine line at the Anna plant, in preparation to manufacture a direct-injection variant of the 1.8-litre, four-cylinder engine for the 2013 Honda Civic. It will also fund the manufacture of pulley components for CVT’s.
The Russells Point plant will produce a high-pressure aluminium die cast for transmission cases with its share of the investment.
