Land Rover plans to develop plug-in hybrid version of Range Rover

Land Rover, a subsidiary of Tata Motors Limited (NYSE: TTM), is planning to produce a plug-in hybrid version of its Range Rover flagship.

The vehicle will be available for sale by the end of the decade.

Peter Richings, chief engineer for hybrid technology at Jaguar Land Rover stated that the Range Rover plug-in is likely to be based on the Range Rover hybrid due out in 2013. The model is equipped with a diesel engine, coupled with an electric motor.
