BMW AG (Xetra: BMW), a Germany-based automaker, is equipping its new Mini with a new turbo, three-cylinder engine.

The automaker has launched the engine to meet future fuel economy and emissions regulations.

AutoCar has reported that the engine is offered in both diesel and petrol versions, codenamed B37 and B38, respectively. The engines are to provide fuel economy improvements of between 5 and 15 percent over the 2.0-litre N20 turbo and direct injection inline-four that were recently launched.
