Volkswagen AG (Xetra: VW), a Germany-based automaker, and its subsidiary Audi are planning to separately develop a crossover.
According to company sources, Audi’s compact crossover is to be launched in 2013. Certain other sources have revealed that the Volkswagen’s crossover will have three rows and seat seven. The model is to be launched in the United States in early 2014 and compete with the Ford Explorer and Honda Pilot.
Volkswagen is also planning to develop a Microbus-inspired crossover, which will take styling cues from the Bulli concept vehicle.
