Volkswagen AG plans to construct plant in Russia

Volkswagen AG (Xetra :VW), a Germany-based automaker, is planning to construct an engine plant in Russia.

The facility is to be opened in 2015 and will produce 150,000 engines per annum. It will produce a 1.6-litre petrol engine that delivers 109bhp and 118lb-ft of torque to equip locally built cars.

Autocar has reported that the company is aiming to sell a half-million cars per annum by 2018. The deal is valued at EUR250m.
