EuroNCAP has recognised the Volvo V40 with highest ever overall safety rating.
The vehicle has an under-bonnet airbag system that deploys to cover the windscreen and A-pillars when a pedestrian is hit.
Euro NCAP stated that the system worked well in its independent test, with the bonnet and airbag offering good protection in all the areas that were likely to be struck by a pedestrian’s head.
