Spyker, a Dutch car manufacturer, is collaborating with China-based Zhejiang Youngman to produce an upscale car based on the Saab Phoenix platform, according to Spyker CEO, Victor Muller.
According to a media report, Zhejiang Youngman will acquire around 30 percent equity stake in Spyker, and the Chinese firm will invest around $44m in two joint ventures aimed at producing a Phoenix-based upscale car, initially aimed at the European and Chinese markets.
Muller stated that the new model will ‘be much more of a Spyker, with some Saab traits. This will extend the Spyker brand downwards towards a very high premium model.’
