Pebble Beach Auctions Set New Records

Pebble Beach

Car auctions at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance set new records over the weekend of August 18 and 19.

The major auction houses sold off a number of highly valuable models, setting new world records as they went. The new record for the most ever spent on an American car at an auction went to a 1968 FordGT40 Gulf/Mirage Lightweight that sold for $11m. The car is one of only two that exist in the world today.

Other sales that broke records for the models concerned included a 1953 Bentley Continental R-Type Fasback Sports Saloon that sold for $1.6m, and a 1960 Aston Martin DB4GT that sold for $2m.
