Renault to equip Renaultsport Megane solely as automatic

Renault SA (EURONEXT: RNO), a France-based automaker, is expected to equip its new Renaultsport Megane with an automatic gearbox only.

The vehicle would not be offered as a manual version.

The decision is expected following the move to equip the new Clio 200 with Renault’s six-speed twin-clutch EDC gearbox as standard.

Jeremy Townsend, communications director of Renault UK, said ‘We know we’re early with this, but we see (automatic gearboxes) as the future.’
