Chevrolet, a brand of US-based car manufacturer General Motors, is to give a European debut to its all-electric vehicle, the Spark, at this year’s Geneva motor show.
The move indicates that the compact model, which runs on an advanced electric motor and battery system, is to be made available in some European markets.
The model’s lithium ion battery system helps to provide 128bhp and 400lb.ft of torque from the electric motor, taking the car from 0 to 62mph in 8.5 seconds. It has a fast charging system that enables it to register an 80 percent charge within 20 minutes.
Standard equipment includes a rear-view camera and the GM MyLink system, for the connection of smartphones to play music, and allow Internet connectivity and navigation. It is expected that the spark will cost less than GBP20,000 in the US.
