Mercedes-Benz to offer four-cylinder diesel engine in E-Class and M-Class

Mercedes-Benz, a subsidiary of Daimler AG (NYSE: DAI) (FWB: DAI), is planning to offer a 2.1-litre turbodiesel inline-four cylinder engine as an option in the E-Class sedan and M-Class SUV from 2013, Car and Driver has reported.

The engine is likely to produce 190bhp and a 369lb-ft of torque.

The 2.1-litre engine will be equipped in the new E250 BlueTEC 4MATIC model in the E-Class, and the ML350 BlueTEC model in the M-Class.
