BMW AG (XETRA: BMW), a Germany-based automaker, is likely to name its M1 successor the M8, according to a new report.
The vehicle will be inspired by the M1 Homage concept that was unveiled at the 2008 Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance, but its body will not incorporate as many retro styling cues. It will be lighter than the Audi R8 and the Mercedes-Benz SLS.
Auto Express has reported that the vehicle will be equipped with a 600bhp 4.0-litre V8 engine, fed with two turbochargers, coupled with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle accelerates from zero to 62mph in three seconds and reaches a top speed of around 200mph.
